Coronavirus (COVID19) & Maintenance in Nursing Homes

Corona virus (COVID-19) & Maintenance in Nursing Homes

At N H Maintenance we are acutely aware that our service engineers have higher potential for spreading the Corona virus to those that are the most vulnerable. As such, we have increased our precautionary measures to protect our clients, our staff and other stakeholders and with immediate effect we will be taking the following actions:

Field Service Work Prioritisation:

We will be prioritising LOLER inspection visits in order to complete as many as possible ahead of the month end and potential quarantining of customer sites. Together with urgent repairs/breakdown callouts, this work will take priority over non-urgent call outs, repairs and other PPM work. On contacting our service desk, some questions will be asked to establish the position of the site for accessibility and to gauge the urgency of the request.

Customer Site Visits:

Field visits will continue but all sites will be contacted by an engineer beforehand to confirm site accessibility. If the site is in voluntary lockdown, our engineers will enquire if it known to be infected. If not, we will still attend with customer permission. If the site is infected, we will not be able to attend until it is at least 14 days clear of the last case.

All engineers have been issued with a risk assessment detailing strict personal hygiene and infection control procedures. All F2F sales meetings have been cancelled or replaced with telephone/video conference calls.

Pressure Care Mattress Decontamination/Repair:

Whilst this service will continue, we will be implementing more stringent packaging procedures which will include the tagging of all mattresses and pumps with a job no. Equipment will be collected and shipped directly to our decontamination plant to avoid unnecessary handling and transport. For this to work will depend on strict adherence to these procedures.
Coronavirus affected equipment can still be treated but must be double-bagged in our red contaminated equipment bags and firmly tied. Detailed instructions will be issued following any request for a repair/decontamination.

Loan Equipment:

Where appropriate we may be able to offer items of replacement equipment on loan as a temporary solution in the event we are not able to carry out the required work to your own equipment. If this of interest, please contact our service desk on 01444 250 350 to discuss your requirements.

Our workforce:

All our staff members are required to sanitise their hands upon entry and exit of ours and customers’ premises. Furthermore, we are encouraging our staff to consider carefully any interactions with other members of the public.

Even in the case of self-isolation, technological measures will be activated to ensure that the work can continue as far as possible without disruption. Should our workforce be heavily reduced due to self-isolation we have plans to increase the hours of our operation to prevent any delays to our service.

We take our responsibility very seriously to ensure all of our stakeholders are safe and at minimal risk from contracting this virus. We are constantly monitoring any updates and advice issues by the WHO and are prepared to implement any further necessary actions to minimise the spread of this virus.

We are committed to minimising any disruption to our service levels during the outbreak of COVID-19.
